Name: Bumblebee
Canon: Transformers: IDW
Canon Point: Post death
Age:Older than the war 4 million years +
History: This should suffice I hope
Personality:
Overall, Bumblebee is one of those characters who genuinely tries to put others before himself. One of the things that the series highlights over and over again is how friendly he is. During Thundercracker’s spotlight, the team he had been with makes a joke about Bumblebee having another one of those “Bee makes a friend” stories after he emerges from underground with an alien riding on his head. This implies that making friends with the native peoples is not an uncommon thing. Cliffjumper mentions that Bee being elected leader after Optimus opts out is just showing that the vote had been nothing but a popularity contest, which hints at the fact that people like Bee. They like him alot. Even during his time on Earth, he had befriended a little girl quite easily and kept that friendship after he had admitted he had essentially used her to get to her father. Bee had even attempted to reach out to Thundercracker and later still Megatron. It should be evident that he had been successful to a degree, considering that Thundercracker later admitts to sort of liking the yellow Autobot. Megatron, right after witnessing Bumblebee's death, outright calls Bee a friend to Shockwave - in fact the badge that Megatron wears and clutches like a life line happens to be Bumblebee's. It’s quite a shame that Bee had forgotten about this aspect of himself during the events of RiD and had only begun to recover it during the events of Dark Cybertron.
He really and truly does believe in fighting for freedom, but most of all protecting people. On Earth, he had disobeyed orders and showed himself to the public in order to save people from a building that had been collapsing. Of course that breaks their cover, but he couldn't just stand by and watch either. Later, in the same instance with the little girl and her father, he stuck by them to protect them from Skywarp. In fact, in order to save their lives, Bee uses a device similar to an EMP knowing that he would also be hit in the blast. In the end, he chooses their lives over his own. This is also not the first time, seeing as in Thundercreacker's spotlight, he had put himself in harm's way to protect the innocent bystander that got tied up in their affairs. Bee is easily the type of person that would jump in front of the line of fire if it meant protecting someone.
Honestly? One of Bee’s greatest gifts happen to be with words. Optimus Prime isn’t the only Autobot that can get through to people or make inspiring speeches. Bee has been known to have the same effect from time to time. This might be due to the fact that he had been a saboteur during the war and thus can figure out where best to plant questions in someone’s mind, but the fact remains that he is effective. He had managed to get a rowdy mob of humans to essentially calm down and put down their signs ( until one shot him for his own personal reasons ). Bee also gets Thundercracker to help them, despite the fact that the Seeker really wants nothing to do with either faction after the war ended - twice. Later still, Bee’s words actually stopped Megatron from firing that fusion canon - something that not even Optimus Prime had been able to do.
The problem with Bumblebee, though, despite his good 'heart,' he isn't really all that suited to leadership. It had sort of been thrust upon him. He doesn’t like the sort of decisions that he has to make when he is leader - something that he muses on at one point. When Bee gets in over his head, he does make mistakes, especially since he’s constantly trying to prove to himself and to others that he can do this, that he can be the leader that they need. This is why he made the rookie mistake of aligning with humans that only wanted to control them. It’s why he allows Prowl to make decisions in RiD that Bee later regrets so much he sort has a breakdown in the end. So much of RiD is Bumblebee reacting to the situation instead of acting. It’s as if he cannot get his act together at all and things just continuously pile one on top of the other so much that he cannot get a grip on anything. So, in the end, Bee just kind of crumbles under that sort of pressure and sudden surprises.
Ironically, in this instance Megatron and Bumblebee are like - Megatron even notices this. Bumblebee has all the best intentions. Even Metalhawk, the Neutral who hates both Decepticons and Autobots for their war, knows that Bee means well. However, like Megatron, Bee thinks he knows what is best and acts on that rather than think about what the people of Cybertron really want. He forgets who it is that he started fighting for, again, like Megatron had. Bee, with Prowl's aid, falls into the whole 'the highway to Hell is paved with the best intentions' sort of trope. Everyone's been at war for so long, that they don't know how to let go. This includes Bee, once the pressure of leadership is really thrust upon him. He wants to do what is best for everyone and no one seems to understand or try to see things from his perspective. There is a lot of resentment and animosity and he gets sucked into that as well. It's not the first time - Bumblebee had snapped at Drift and accused him of being a traitor before.
Needless to say, Bee does have confidence issues. There are times where he doesn’t believe that he’s good enough - that his actions aren’t enough ( the guy blows up a space bridge and takes out some Decepticons single handedly and still blames himself for not being able to stop the entirety of the Cons’ plans ). Bee, at times, believes that he comes up short and until right before Megatron starts to battle with D-Void, is constantly comparing himself to Prime. Up until a certain point in Dark Cybertron, Bee struggles with this issue of if he’s good enough, if he is doing the right thing. It's never quite resolved either, since the emergence of the Necrotitan puts everyone back onto the battlefield. Perhaps Bee isn't a good politician, but apparently he has enough confidence to lead both the Decepticons and Autobots into battle.
Yet he does have a backbone to him, when the time calls for it. He manages to grab Prowl by around the neck and tell him to shut up. Bee also stands up to Optimus Prime on more than one occasion. After Prime had left them with, he suddenly comes back and calls for people to join him. Bee tells him that he can't take everyone since he is no longer in command of the Autobots. Another time, Bee more or less confirms Rodimus' suspicions that he would have kicked Prime off of Cybertron had it come to it. He also shoots down Megatron as well and tells him off about how wrong his ideology had become... Also basically he kind of tells Megatron that he's full of it. All in all the guy may be little, but he does have an air about him, when it is needed. Some times, like throughout much of RiD, this isn’t necessarily always a good thing. Rodimus mentions that Bee is one hard little bot and just because Bee doesn’t LIKE to make some of the calls he does, doesn’t mean he won’t.
It's probably important to mention that Bumblebee also had somehow managed to watch an insane amount of TV like Thundercracker while back on Earth. Another note is that Bee is snarky. It doesn't really matter who he's talking to, he will have a sharp tone at some point or another. Sometimes it's in jest - pure teasing and nothing else. Other times Bee throws in these sarcastic little barbs, meant to hurt or needle at someone. Part of that might be due to the fact that he had been an espionage agent and the other part is purely all Bumblebee.
What this all amounts to is that Bee has had too much thrown upon his shoulders at once and while trying to do the right thing, he fumbles along the way. For a while, he had even lost a sense of who he was but had slowly started to regain it. He admits to his mistakes, realizes them, and all he really wants is the best for those around him and for his people. Bee has a good heart, but has developed a bit of a temper and a smart mouth to go with it from time to time. While he might feel like giving up and giving in, he never will. He is far too stubborn and driven by his personal convictions to do anything but that, even at the cost of his own health and well being.
Abilities/Skills:
Bumblebee is a mechanical being from the planet Cybertron. He isn't as tall as some, only being approximately 13 feet tall at most. Like all Cybertronians, he is made of metal, gears, wires, an etc. His other form is that of a car - usually something small and compact. Bee isn't nearly as fast as Blurr or likely even Drift, but he isn't 'built' for speed.
Before, and during, the war Bee had been a saboteur. Spying. Espionage. That is where Bee actually excels. Getting into the heads of his enemies and using their words and actions against them. This skill is also helpful at getting things that he wants. All he needs to do is find the right person, say the right things, and there you go - as long as his conscience doesn't get in the way. Bee is also adept at finding bugs and whatnot too. Thus Bee, while not the smartest Autobot, is actually pretty quick witted all the same.
Since Bee is on the smaller side of the Cybertronian size scale, his combat is more geared towards blasters rather than hand to hand. That's not to say he can't handle it, because he's managed to take down the Combaticons, but that had been more due to his wits than anything else.
He also has shown prowess at being a good commander, but only on the battlefield. Bee seems to have a decent head for tactics, or at least seeing what needs to be done.

I recall a guy I sort of knew saying something about how rarely we actually die. ...Almost right before I did. Right now I can just picture his damn smug mug just looking at me and saying "I told you so."
I used to think that only people like Optimus and Megatron could survive multiple times from the brink of death but here I am. Still kicking. Not that I don't appreciate it - I do! It's just there's always a catch, isn't there? If there's not one guy bent on destroying the universe, there's always someone else wanting to jump in and mess things up for another planet or race or whatever.
So what is the catch? What exactly is going on so I don't get gobsmacked with it later. I'm one hundred percent done with surprises.
